Obedience

They were forced into doing it by threat and and harm. The Government was the main source of money and people needed to get paid to live. They also chose to do it themselves if they supported the people doing it.

Moving On

The best way to overcome trauma is to do something you like and feel comfortable doing. Also visiting someone and explaining your feelings are a good things to do. This can help when you need someone to talk to and explain your problems. They can give advice and keep company when you feel down.

Enduring Legacies and Obligation

  • Do you agree or disagree with this idea, that those who benefited should be held responsible?
  • How does the call for justice connect the call for forgiveness?
  • What does this quote say about where the country of Chile's citizen fall in their Universe of Obligation? Who is in and or out of their universe? Why do you say that?

I disagree that the civilians should be blamed because they had nothing to do with the tortures and the kills. They were living peacefully and the government was to blame for what happened to the country. Unless they supported the killing and torturing, they shouldn't be held responsible for these cruel actions.

How did they benefit from the dictatorship?

Enduring Legacies and Voice

Arpilleras were one way of protesting. Although they were not a huge impact, they did show the scenes that this dictatorship created. These were a way to peacefully protest and to be safe at the same time. The women usually did this because all the men were usually in jail and the women did not want to end up like the men.

Enduring Legacies and Voice

I think this does count as voice because the quilts are not made by words, they're made by feelings and beliefs about what's going on. They also count as acts of revolution and rebellion because they are all mainly anti-government. These arpilleras also tell what happened during that time and what events took place.

The individual society

Identity is who you are as a person and who you and people think you are.
It is dynamic because its always changing. It does because people are not who you think they always are. This can be showed with Daniels father because he changed completely after he was abducted.

Memory and Legacy

The Congolese didn't have much connection to the outside world could not express what was going on so they were quickly eliminated and could never express what happened. It took so long because the natives spoke a different language that people did not understand until the natives learned English and the Europeans finally started to care about them.
